Protection of home education from government regulation - meetings with various Congressional offices to talk about homeschooling success.
Meetings with Members of Congress and staff about protecting homeschool freedom in the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, including protecting the language codified in 20 U.S.C. 7886, if Congress reauthorizes ESEA.
Meetings with Members of Congress and their staff to discuss concerns with recent U.S. Department of Education Rulemaking, specifically 75 FR 66832-01. We are concerned that this new rule regarding Program Integrity Issues will increase federal regulation over colleges and universities. Support of H.R. 2117 to overturn these regulations.
Lobbying work against H.R. 2218, Empowering Parents Through Quality Charter Schools Act, because of the bill's creation of a federal priority in competitive grant making to states that create online charter school programs. These programs could harm homeschool freedom.
